About Celldweller
Celldweller, the versatile outlet of the artist, performer, producer, songwriter, programmer, and remixer Klayton, began as a producer pseudonym in the early 90's. Now, Klayton uses the name to deliver his vision of progressively combining multiple genres of music. Celldweller fuses the electronics of drum & bass and techno, with rock and orchestral elements, meshing the synthetic and the organic, darkness with beauty, into a cohesive blend entirely its own.
In 2003, Klayton independently released the self-titled debut Celldweller album. It reached #17 on the Billboard Internet Sales Chart and received 7 awards at the 2004 Just Plain Folks Music Awards, including: Producer of the Year and Album of the Year. He has also captured the interest of the Film/TV industry having licensed every track from the Debut Celldweller album. Credits include: CSI, Superman Returns, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Constantine, Catwoman, Redline and Bad Boys 2.
At the moment, Klayton is working on various projects, the most important being the next Celldweller album. Apart from that, he has been producing and programming tracks for upcoming LVL and Subkulture releases. Their debut albums will be released on his label, FIXT Music, later this year.
Another thing that has been keeping him busy is the Celldweller Remix Competition (www.remix.celldweller.com). FabFilter is sponsoring the competition, which will last for the next year in a series of rounds. Lots of great talent lending themselves to this competition and anyone is invited to participate, whether doing a remix or just voting for winners of each round.
Celldweller and FabFilter
Klayton decided to check out our FabFilter plug-ins after reading about FabFilter One and its great filter sound. "I've used enough softsynths to know that many softsynth filters are brittle and sometimes weak. But I have to try everything once, so I downloaded a demo and bumped out a track that night.
"I was a little surprised because the filter actually lived up to the hype - They were warm, rich and squealed like a stuck pig if I wanted them to. When I got my hands on Volcano and accidentally made the filters self-oscillate, I was converted forever."
"How often do you find softsynths with rich, self-oscillating filters?! Never. I can confidently say FabFilter plugins will be all over my new Celldweller disc as well as anything else I get my hands on."
