About Hunk Of A Man

Hunk Of A Man and FabFilter

Having been a part of GusGus and T-World, two Icelandic Neo-Techno apparatuses, Hunk Of A Man returns after a hefty rest & relaxation. In 2006 Hunk Of A Man (also known as Buckmaster De La Cruz & Herb Legowitz) left GusGus to escape the pressures of touring and entered rehab. Let's rewind to 1984. Young Hunk Of Man is breakdancing during the day and honing his dj skills in his bedroom at night. What he notices about all these great Electro tracks are not the Artists themselves but the Producers & Remixers. After awhile some names crop up more often and their skills cause great admiration.

Forward to 1992. After a few years as a successful dj in Reykjavik, Hunk Of A Man starts to make music with Biggi Veira under the name of T-World. After a few failed attempts they come upon their sound and release a 12" on a new label called Underwater run by Darren Emerson which then was traveling the world over many times with Underworld. In 1995 the duo get approached by a group of singers to help with producing music for them... GusGus is formed & the rest is history! Under various guises Hunk Of A Man has remixed artists as diverse as Roy Davis Jr, Model 500, David Byrne, Captain Comatose, Mabi Thobejane, Leroy Holmes, Joe Henry, Moloko, Oscar, Noir Désir, Cafe Tacuba, Balligomingo, Nicole Willis, Ralphi Rosario, Aaron-Carl, GiGi Galaxy, Mondo Grosso, Sigur Rós & Trabant plus of course countless GusGus productions & in-house remixes.

Currently working on:

Remix for Khan (of Captain Comatose)
LP with Earth (ex-GusGus singer)
LP with Siggi Kinski (ex GusGus songwriter)
+ countless compositions & remixes for release or the trash can

Hunk Of A Man and FabFilter

"I came across FabFilter on my second favorite website kvraudio.com (my favorite being discogs.com) and immediately decided to try them out. While it took me a while to be sold on software plugins altogether it didn't take long until i was sold on the FabFilter package. First, second & third, they sound incredible! Fourth, they look good and fifth they come with great presets to start you tweaking. All in all a super sweet deal!"

"I'm using almost all of the FabFilter plugs in my current productions and they've helped me make the transition from a hardware based studio to laptop music making as effortless as possible...(",)..."
