Solo

Solo is a man whose star is most definitely in the ascendance. His prodigious rise to prominence over the last few years has seen him release on a who’s who of the most exciting labels in contemporary dance music, remix the likes of Underworld, Depeche Mode and Wiley and embark upon his first world tour. And, as if this wasn’t already an enviable list of achievements, he can also add to this a residency at the world famous fabric nightclub in London. With his inimitable productions and high octane DJ sets in increasingly high demand, 2011 is set to be his busiest year yet.

Born in Rome, Italy, music has been a driving force in Ritteri’s life since a young age. Showing an early fascination with the creation and construction of sound, he had already started building a studio by his early teens, both playing drums in a band and starting to experiment with computers and samplers. This embodies perfectly Solo’s enthrallment with music – equal parts technical geek, musical aficionado and party lover.

After his first revelatory visit to fabric in London, Solo’s mind was made up. Moving to London soon after to follow music, the Solo project was born. Initially working behind the scenes engineering for other artists, Ritteri developed his own production skills and made some useful friendships and connections along the way.

After ‘Congaloid’ was picked up by Claude Von Stroke for Dirtybird, Solo’s name was on placed firmly on the map and he hasn’t looked back since. With another world tour lined up and a host of releases scheduled for the next six months, 2011 is going to be a busy year for Solo. Refusing to define himself by any one scene or sound, Ritteri continues to strive to create something new and fresh with every new song. Define Solo at your own peril, as he keeps throwing out curveballs with each move he makes.
