Sterling Winfield

Born and raised in west Texas, Sterling moved to Dallas, Texas in 1988 after graduating high school. He started mixing for local bands in 1990 after graduating an extensive audio engineering course with late recording legend Phil York.

"In 1991 I became a staff engineer for Dallas Sound Lab, and in late 1993 met up with heavy metal pioneers Pantera. I worked with them as an assistant engineer on their ground breaking CD “Far Beyond Driven”, (which debuted at #1 on the Billboard top 200 in April of 1994, and was also Grammy nominated) and soon after went on to work with many other bands in the studio and on the road."

Sterling has worked extensively on various types of music in the studio including, but not limited to - hip hop, R & B, country, choral, jazz, blues, and orchestral. His discography ranges all the way from Pantera to Erykah Badu to Herbie Mann and back again. Also, while touring the world as a bass and guitar technician for the likes of Pantera, Damageplan, and Hellyeah over a fifteen year period he has worked and toured along side some of the best known bands and musicians in the world.

"Most recently I have produced and engineered the newest Texas Hippie Coalition release titled “Dark Side of Black” on Carved Records. I have also wrapped up production and mixing on the album “As The Crow Flies” from Ontario, Canadian hard rocking up and comers A Rebel Few. I am also co-producing my seventh album project with Oklahoma City prog.-rockers Vangough called “War Paint” which is slated for a late 2016 release."

Sterling Winfield and FabFilter

"I first saw FabFilter plugins being used in an online tutorial. I was immediately intrigued by the user interface. I did a small search and was on the website and downloading, then using the Pro-Q 2 in a matter of minutes. The rest is history. The Pro-Q 2 and Pro-C 2 are my current favorites, but I just saw the FabFIlter Pro-R verb plug. Lookout, LOL!"
