Upgrading to Volcano 3
Upgrading from Volcano 1 or 2 to Volcano 3 is safe and easy: installing Volcano 3 will not replace or delete the previous versions of the plug-in. All versions will co-exist and can be used at the same time. This ensures that you can open old songs that use Volcano 1 or 2 without problems.
Volcano 1/2 presets
All presets created with Volcano 1 or 2 can be loaded in Volcano 3, although they may sound slightly different due to changes in the new plug-in version. If you upgraded from version 1 or 2 to the new version, your original presets will be accessible via the V1/V2 Preset Folders item in the preset menu. See also Loading presets.
Replacing a Volcano 2 or 1 instance by Volcano 3
If you are working on a song and want to replace an earlier Volcano version instance with the new Volcano 3, we recommend to do the following:
- Open the earlier Volcano instance, right-click the preset button at the top, and click Copy in the popup menu that appears.
- Remove the earlier Volcano instance and replace it with Volcano 3.
- Right-click the preset button in Volcano 3, and click Paste to paste the copied settings.
Note: to use copy and paste, you need the latest version of Volcano 2. Volcano version 1 does not support copy and paste. In this case, simply save the current setting as a FabFilter preset in the Volcano v1 preset folder. Then, load the preset that you just created into Volcano 3 via the V1 Preset Folder submenu in the preset menu.
Automation
Because the feature set of Volcano 3 has changed fundamentally, any automation data that has been written by a Volcano 1 or 2 instance cannot be read correctly by Volcano 3.
