Dem Jointz

Dem Jointz, born Dwayne Allen Abernathy Jr, hails from Compton, California. Music entered his life when he started playing drums at the age of six in his local church. As time went on his interest and love for music grew, and instead of succumbing to the surrounding pressure of gangs and violence he chose a musical path.

His early influences include Compton's own NWA, DJ Quik, C.M.W. aka Compton’s Most Wanted, and so on. As Jointz continued to study music, his palette opened as he became exposed to classics by The Isley Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Anita Baker, Hall and Oats, The Jacksons and many other greats.

Today, having channelled those inspirations in records he's produced for Dr. Dre, Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Kendrick Lamar, and more, Jointz is on his way to leaving a lasting impression on The City of Compton, and the world.

Dem Jointz and FabFilter

"I was first introduced to FabFilter products by a good engineer friend of mine named Koen Heldens. Currently my favorite plug-in is FabFilter Pro-Q 2. It adds layers and textures to vocals that are very unique. When recording, it's beyond important to have a go-to bag of plug-ins that you can trust and the Pro-Q 2 is definitely in the mix for me."
