Jan 'Stan' Kybert

Jan ‘Stan’ Kybert is an audio production specialist who has over 20 years experience in music and audio post production. "After working with mix legend Mark ‘Spike’ Stent (who nicknamed me Stan) for six years we embarked to the south of France with Oasis for six months to record their album 'Standing on the Shoulders of Giants'." On return from France they moved into Wheeler End studios where Jan became the in-house engineer for all of the following Oasis records and many other Noel Gallagher related projects over the next eight years.

"During this wonderful time I met Paul Weller and got to record a few demos of his. I still remember making a CD of the tunes for him, writing my phone number on the inner sleeve in hope we would work together again." Sx months later Paul called and asked if he would engineer and mix tracks for a new album that was nearly 15 years, 5 albums, 2 standalone singles and 1 tour ago!

"I’m currently a third of the way into the next Paul Weller album due for release in 2015 which I’m co-producing and mixing. When I’m asked which area of music production I specialize in I always reply, drums, bass and two guitars! Even though I’ve been lucky to work with many successful artists like Bjork, Massive Attack and Madonna (and enjoyed every minute) I’ve always been drawn too and influenced by bands. From The Beatles & Stones too Tame Impala & Artic Monkeys. I’ll always be a drums-bass-and-two-guitars man!!"

Jan 'Stan' Kybert and FabFilter

"Dave Pensado first put me onto FabFilter and their wonderful array of products. Although I worked my way into music production from the engineering side I have always been heavily involved with Pro Tools from the late 90’s version 2.02e. I’ve witnessed the evolution of Pro Tools and arguably the now faster evolution of plugins. FabFilter have a wonderful balance of creating products that are familiar to engineers yet are utilizing cutting edge technology to push past old school restrictions and rules from their hardware counterparts."

"FabFilter Pro-Q is the most easy to use flexible EQ available. 24 bands, the interface display, frequency analyser all make EQ’ing easier, more accurate and more fun all round!"
