Remy.
Remy. (a.k.a. Remy van Kesteren) creates his own world with his compositions; a blend of neo-classical minimal, electronic music, alternative, jazz- and world influences, where the boundaries between genres evaporate.
He produced his new album Shadows (Universal) with the British ex-DJ, singer-songwriter and producer Fink. "It took a long time writing Shadows. I wanted to reinvent myself as a musician. To do that, I abandoned my harp for almost a year. I started playing other instruments like piano and guitar, and I started singing. I was also playing a lot on synthesizer and programming software". With his new album Remy wanted to create his own universe.
"I grew up listening to Radiohead, Bon Iver and music from the eighties like R.E.M. If music is pure and real, the genre does not really matter to me". Remy needed three years to find his new sound for this album. He hardly played live shows during this period, necessary to stay focused. "It was a difficult time for me. Without the harp I lost all my securities. In classical music you just play what is written, and play it well. But since from now on every note had to co me from me, I was insecure about everything".
Remy. and FabFilter
"When mixing my latest album Shadows, my engineer was working a lot with the various FabFilter plug-ins. I started trying out the Fabfilter Saturn myself and fell completely in love with the software, because it enables me to completely change the sound of the harp and forge it into this deep and dark sound that I love."
