Jeff Ellis

Jeff Ellis is a Grammy Award-winning recording engineer and Grammy-nominated mix engineer. His most notable work was on Frank Ocean's critically acclaimed album 'Channel ORANGE'.

"I got my start at the famed EastWest Studios in Hollywood California, (formerly United/Western Recorders) where artists such as Frank Sinatra and The Beach Boys once recorded. I worked with countless top artists during my tenure at Eastwest and rose through the ranks to become one of their main engineers."

In 2011, Jeff left Eastwest Studios to engineer Frank Ocean's channel ORANGE. The Album was a critical success, earning him a 2012 Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album, as well as nominations for Album of the Year and Record of the Year. The album includes the Platinum selling single 'Thinkin' Bout You' which was his first platinum selling mix. Since going freelance, Jeff has worked with many other notable artists such as Akon, Skylar Grey, Kate Nash, Vic Mensa, Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Linus Young, Ryan Beatty and many more.

"Currently, I am engineering Frank Ocean's highly anticipated follow up album to channel ORANGE and mixing/producing songs for artists all over the world!"

Jeff Ellis and FabFilter

"Years ago, I learned about FabFilter through word of mouth working in recording studios. My first experience with FabFilter was with FabFilter Pro-C. I really took notice of the innovation within the plug-in; it being the first compressor plug-in I can recall that had a WET/DRY knob (a trend that is very common now) and some seriously advanced side chain functionality."

"Recently, I discovered the FabFilter Pro-Q 2 EQ plug-in and there was no going back to anything else. It is the workhorse of every mix I do now. There is no other EQ on the market that is as efficient and beautiful. Nothing comes close."

"FabFilter Pro-Q 2 is the first plug-in I have owned where I feel like as much programing effort was put into the user workflow experience as the sonic quality. The hotkeys within the plug-in allow me to change parameters very quickly and the spectral analysis display combined with the "intelligent solo" feature make frequency carving a breeze. These features are shared within FabFilter Pro-MB, which makes it just as amazing as the Pro-Q 2!"

"FabFilter Pro-DS is my new favorite vocal de-esser. Before I would just automate out sibilance issues manually because no other plug-in I found could reliably eliminate issues without causing problematic artifacts. The intelligent detection and transparency of the plug-in is second to none and again the interface is beautiful and efficient."

"Finally, I love how FabFilter has integrated help pop-up's into their plug-ins which make them easy to learn and understand the advanced features."
