Joseph Renzetti

Joe Renzetti has had three musical careers. First, at age 20, he was house guitarist for Cameo records, the Dick Clark era in Philly (Let’s Twist Again, Bristol Stomp, South Street, The Mashed Potatoes, You Can’t Sit Down etc). His second career was in NYC and Philly as the arranger (Mandy, Sunny, 98.6, Apple Peaches Pumpkin Pie, many top 40 singles and albums). Renzetti was Huff and Gamble’s 1st Arranger (We’ll Be United, Together).

Joe's third career was as a film composer based in LA, where he scored The Buddy Holly Story, and won an Oscar for best adaption score. In a twist of styles he went on to score Child’s Play (Original), Poltergeist 3, Fatso and Dead & Buried. In a turn of genres he became known for Indie cult horror films like Basket Case 2&3, Frankenhooker, Vice Squad, The Exterminator, Wanted: Dead or Alive, Lisa and Clare at 16. From films, the natural progression was to TV and Cable shows like Tom Holland’s Twisted Tales, Cable Series Missing Persons TV Series, Tales From The Crypt, Lover Come Hack To Me, etc.

Since the 60’s he’s been involved in the audio engineering side of recording.In 1971 electronic music caught Renzetti’s interest when he heard the first Moog. He arranged and coproduced an all synth album: Electric Tommy (A Rock Opera), he admits being a synth junkie ever since. Known for composing for acoustical orchestra; he also runs his own project studio using samples and synths in the digital world. He scores films, video media,TV, and teaches film Scoring.
