Katie Stelmanis (Austra)

Katie has written and produced two records with her band Austra for Domino Records, with a third record one on the way. Their music has been described as velvety art-pop and takes shape in her home studio.

"Beginning as a bedroom project that included a computer simply out of necessity, I've become passionate about electronic music production, DJing and also tour for a living. Austra has played hundreds of shows, a ton of festivals, and our debut album was named album of the year by New York Magazine. We are heavily influenced by a lot of stuff including German Krautrock, Detroit techno, UK bass, Peruvian folk music, Kate Bush and the knife."

"I started using FabFilter plug-ins while mixing a record at a Toronto studio and immediately fell in love with them. The creativity is endless, and they really don't sound like anything I've used before. We've had a lot of fun with Timeless 2. I've used it for almost every song on my new record to create different textures and depth to the tracks."
