Kristofer Harris (Story Books)

A native to the county of Kent, Kristofer began his education as a record producer alongside the local emerging musical talent. During these formative years, Kristofer came to recognise two cornerstones forming in his approach to making records; the cultivation of close relationships with bands and artists, and a direct and instinctive style he was beginning to make his own.

Kristofer has continued to develop a distinctive sound, nurturing an acute attention to detail that has seen him amplify the talents of rising artists and help realise those of more established acts.

Latest highlights include:
Kristofer is currently working as producer/engineer/mixer on the new album from UK duo Smoke Fairies. Earlier work this year saw Kristofer produce and mix rapidly-rising three-piece Bear's Den's "Agape" EP. Building a very strong relationship with the Communion label, Kristofer was also invited to co-produce the forthcoming debut album from Matthew & The Atlas.

Kristofer's own band Story Books produced their single "Peregrine", which was chosen for the BBC Radio 1 Introducing Playlist, prompting it's official release in July 2012. Their most recent EP release "Too Much A Hunter" in April 2013 gained a playlisting at XFM and major support from Radio 1 including Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens and the Introducing shows.

Continuing to prioritise working on projects alongside emerging artists that genuinely excite him, Kristofer flew out to New York in July 2013 to produce an album with new and currently unsigned singer-songwriter Tim Barr’s project "Silverbird".

Alongside fellow Story Books member Jack Tarrant, he co-produced and mixed the self-titled debut EP from Annie Eve (Young & Lost Club Records).

Kristofer Harris (Story Books) and FabFilter

"I was initially introduced to FabFilter plug-ins by fellow band mate and mixer Jack Tarrant. I've since used them on a bunch of jobs - most recently, and liberally on the upcoming Smoke Fairies album that I've just finished mixing."

"I especially like FabFilter Twin 2 for quickly knocking up organ and lead sounds during writing or pre-production and FabFilter Pro-Q, the EQ plug-in, has become an essential tool for all of my mixing work."
